The Last Sitting

A smooth echo
Scorching through the hallway
of the woods

She sits in her chair, sweating,
Images run past
Her teal eyes

A last chance to say goodbye
She weeps
The uncomfortable memories,

Like the time she listened
and changed her ways for him
Woeful melancholies

Five o’clock now and, outside,
leaves are motionless
like her face

She wants to hear him once more
His speech, so silent
Surrendering, she leaves this place.
