To you my darling,
We’ve loved ourselves secretly,
For long we’ve hidden our feelings;
We can’t let anyone know we are in love
...
Remember brother!
If I were born earlier;
Earlier enough to carry a sword,
Or a machine gun,
...
Dying grasses
Felled trees
Vibrant and healthy today
Quiet and motionless tomorrow

To You My Darling
To you my darling,
We’ve loved ourselves secretly,
For long we’ve hidden our feelings;
We can’t let anyone know we are in love
We are scared to the marrows – we can’t even protect our love
‘cause we’re not proud of our love
Not because of the laws
Man makes laws
And we are the laws
Appeals darling!
I am lost in love my darling
Shall we not make our love known?
I am no more scared of the fear of the unknown
‘cause I cannot wait to make this legal
Let’s marry tomorrow and make our love legal
If we can’t do it here
Shall we not run to Johannesburg?
There, surely we are assured of our rights
Darling!
Let’s make love this night
Let us celebrate our tie
Tomorrow shall be better
Then, in public I’ll knot your tie
With kisses I shall whisper to your ear no more at night
And we shall say: ‘definitely today is better.’
