Alfonso Siverls Poems

it is the light
of candles
that shines brightly
after a long journey
...

Where the ghost of ebbets fields
whispers echoes of yesterday
under the boardwalks of coney island
...

I knew a man that wanted to learn the trumpet
but could not play a note
he keep practicing
until one day a perfect sound
...

In prospect park where
old and young walk
hand in hand
on a timeless secret path
...

Roots running deep
Crisscrossing below ground
Brooklyn trees are old trees
Hipsters can’t change that
...

I am one of 6.5 billion
Human inhabitants of
The planet earth
The third planet from the sun
...

Forgive them
For they know not what they say
When they violate this sacrosanct word
...

I got the blues in my blood
It runs all within me
Everyday
and everyway
...

I think
Therefore I am
Cogito Ergo Sum
...

10.

You know the look
You have seen the pictures
Children
Thin to the bone
...

We don’t sing the blues anymore
But we still live it and don’t know it
My daddy sang and played the blues
He lived it and it ran alongside him his whole life
...

locked in a bubble
filled with despair and hopelessness
...

13.

I hear the echo of whispers
Of unknown souls
long gone and forgotten
Of those that have suffered
...

Can you hear it
A growing vibration
In the underbelly
That is shaking the wall
...

One person
Can start a group
One group
Can create a cause
...

ain’t nothing hard about living
its just wakening up and going to sleep
doing what you have to do
to wake up the next morning
...

I know I am odd
but I miss the old uptown
before the starbucks
and all the chic spots
...

The old man in the city
Moves with the slow
Steady pace of an automatic walk
Seeing by not noticing
...

My life story
is written on subways walls
take the Q train
read in passing
...

I wonder
if it is the me i know
that you see
or just the shadows of me
...

The Best Poem Of Alfonso Siverls

Kwanzaa

it is the light
of candles
that shines brightly
after a long journey
of darkness,
that empowers my soul
and proclaims my place
in the culture of humanity

it is the sounds that vibrate
across the earth with an echo
that whisper and sings my song

it is the smell of nameless souls
long gone, that was cast out
of the family of man, whose scent
dwells beneath my skin

it is the taste of
the pain of yesterday, with
the flavor of hope for tomorrow
proclaiming here I stand

it is the touching of my heart
with your heart
in joyful celebration
of the sacrifice of our ancestors
