We don’t sing the blues anymore
But we still live it and don’t know it
My daddy sang and played the blues
He lived it and it ran alongside him his whole life
My daddy knew the blues
He tried to drink it away all the time
I know the blues, I understand it
I feel it and at times I am the blues
And like my daddy, when the blues
Come knocking, I sometimes try to drink it away too
We don’t sing the blues anymore
It’s just too damn real
Can’t sugar coat the blues
It’s all about the hard times in life
We don’t sing the blues anymore
And that gives me the blues
