Alicia Bridget Smith Poems

I’m longing for something that’ll give me a reason,
To sit out this bitter and lonely cold season,
But there’s nothing that lingers long enough in my brain,
To stop me from fearing the wind and the rain,
...

Have you ever watched a flower come into bloom.
Just marvelled at the power of something so fair.
Glows with it's beauty, almost without a care.
But everyone knows that even something so sweet,
...

The canvas skin, that you're living in, there something not quite right.
The painted grin and the safety pins, are they mine tonight?
And the empty stare, that’s sleeping there, and you know there’s something wrong.
The words you say, i know it's all okay, coz you were right all along.
...

So sometimes it gets lonely, all tired and worn and gaumless.
However, what's the least you can expect from a 9 - 5 all rounder.
He wakes from his grey ground dreams, dropped into reality once more.
After taking nourishment from the contents of a cupboard,
...

You’re in the wrong.
You know you’re in the wrong.
But what do you do? You blame someone else.
You blame every last bit of guilt, fear, pain and anxiety onto someone or something else.
...

It seems we can’t truly see the things that stand right before our eyes,
For we think that they will forever stay, and not change with time,
But the truth is that with time, nothing stays the same,
People mature and memories fade.
...

I never knew you, but I looked at your beautiful face.
So small, so fair, too pure to embrace,
You are not a stranger, for we are so strongly connected,
You are forever within my heart, forever protected,
...

Alicia Bridget Smith Biography

I am a young writer, with a fresh open mind. I don't write for a living, but rather I do it in my own time, as I find it a way to express myself and my opinions without being prejudged. This is my way of voicing my opinion, my way of showing people that my views count too. Not enough notice is taken of everyday people, of their situations and struggles. Writing is my way of representing myself, of letting my emotions loose, and of having some fun. We'll ride to the rescue alone, but we'll be backed by 6 billion strangers who are exactly the same as us. Maybe one day I'll make a difference, but for now, this is my start. Enjoy.)

‘society's Not The Reason, It's The Effect'

I’m longing for something that’ll give me a reason,
To sit out this bitter and lonely cold season,
But there’s nothing that lingers long enough in my brain,
To stop me from fearing the wind and the rain,
For everything passes in a cloud full of words,
My mind wanders and my speech becomes slurred,
The rhymes that before so easily came,
Don’t seem to flow right, it’s all but a shame.
For the fire that was lit with the passion and dreams,
Has long burnt out to ashes, the sun seems less to gleam,
it seems everything pure and right this life,
Fizzled out like the fire of hatred and strife,
So while I struggle to regain he pride that I’ve lost,
Society crashes around me with the raising life cost,
there is nothing to show for the years that we’ve tried,
to throw out all the pain where the hatred resides,
but it seems this wretched effort has all been in vain,
as we see all the troubles this country has gained,
So alone, it seems, is the safest way to be,
with no one to trust but myself and me,
Still, I’ll carry on searching for that reason to be,
Everything I know that I can achieve,
there’s something out there among the torn distraught faces,
To fulfil this hole, to make you go places,
searching can hurt when it seems there’s nothing to find,
But remember there’s faith and hope in mankind.
