Alvie C. Hutton Poems

My Beginning

I was born near Holder; some called it Slap-Out.
Why they gave it that name, I never found out.
But much later I did hear a man tell
A story which I remember quite well.

An Ode To Lucille, My Wife, The Joy Of My Life

The love of my life for more than sixty years
Is a victim of Alzheimer's with its mind-boggling fears.
It's like going the wrong way on a one-way street.
I wish and I pray, but there is no retreat.
