Love That Was

I live in this world but wonder in a pause,
I don't know what happened to the love that was...

She lived in me for a long long time,
It was her place which cemented over time,
I do not know what I feel there anymore,
A searing anger or an unrelenting empty hole,
It’s just sometimes my emotions lead to a door,
And makes me think she dwelled in my soul...

I live in this world but wonder in a pause,
I don't know what happened to the love that was...

People tell me to move on in life,
I wonder if they really understand my strife,
My wish to move ahead is as strong as their will,
But the void she left is never going to fill,
I nod my head but cannot explain to them,
True love never dies, it does not relent...

I defined love through her, she gave it a meaning,
To thoughts, to actions and the habits that formed,
I do not see anyone else in that light anymore,
My power to dream, my power to love has been robbed,
Coz it’s her face I see when someone mentions love,
It’s her feel I need when the going gets tough...

There was a time when I was different,
There was this place when I was carefree,
But this happened and I rounded a bend,
And it defines me now, it’s how I see,
This world, the relations, the here and now,
I wish it to end so I am at peace somehow...
