Quiet I'M Hiding

Deep breath in...
Hold it, look around...
Let it out slowly
Don't move,
Don't show you're still alive,
That your heart beats
The blood through your veins...
Beat... Beat... Beat...
Rhythmic tones
Drowning the world out.
Check and make sure
You're still alive.
Two fingers on a neck,
The fingers are cold,
But there's traces of life inside.
Can we be numb and still live?
Or live while dead inside?
Or breathe when nothing else
Matters any more?
