lam an African child
Not because l was born in Africa
But my heart beats for Africa.
My motherland the beautiful land
...
Her radiant dawns bring pure hope
Her hills and valleys whisper an ancient name
Laughter of her kids, with the winds elope
She is strong even though her body is bruised.
...
God may I be a good human
May I have a good heart
A good heart to love everyone
May I be humble and respect everyone
...
Africa
Continent carved out of glory
Enriched with fertile soils
Decked with bronze embedded with gold
...
Everyone has touched the apex of time
I see with joy climax of time
The clock struck all parts of the planet
Now l listen to the drum and clarinet.

African Child
lam an African child
Not because l was born in Africa
But my heart beats for Africa.
My motherland the beautiful land
In her presence I have discovered
The memory of our being.
Its the African in me
That loves the forest in which I wake up in
That has taught me how to love
And how to be strong in hard time
Its the African in me that makes me
Sad when her children fight each other.
My ears hearing no more racism
Reveal beyond the rains of the past
Taught to be united and to work hard
Fond with my African culture and tradition.
I am an African child:
Not because l have a black skin,
But my soul is engaged to Africa
Because Africa made me who l am
Proudly an African child iam.
