Take A Picture (It Will Last Longer)
I found them buried under heaps
of old video games, rags, fags,
in a leather coffin breaking
at the seams. And I have to look,
to prove we existed together,
we even existed at all.
Scratched up, dog-eared, finger-printed
photos that prompt me to recall
how my brother's curls caught the light,
the hours spent trying to open
my mum's empty silver locket,
dad's cigarette smoke winding
between my fingers like ribbons.
I cannot bear to turn the page
because between each white space
we lost something more; be it love,
