We think of ways to brighten up our days, To make all the calamitous things disappear, travel, To stop them from throwing themselves in your direction, Tearing, grazing your mind like skin to gravel. Endlessly fighting them away As they continue to fall on you like heavy drops of rain. Their storm-clouds overpowering you, Speeding up faster, so much, too much like a train. You look forward to the tracks ahead And see they're destination-infinity. You frightfully look up to the sky... The lightning cracks like bones in your body. Shooting down come more calamities, Flooding you heart, your mind. They gush in, winding through your veins like fresh, new blood, You curse; they're always mishaps, never kind. You want to run, you want to jump Off the train slowly carrying you to misery, But the load, the speed, catches up with you, You know that this fall, this jump, will never be easy. You give in to your cowardly thoughts, Hoping that these melancholy obsticals are getting bored. You sweep them off your shoulders carelessly, As if sweeping dust off an old record.
