Waiting, Thinking, Comfort

Waiting…
As laid down is I
I’m not warmed by the outer-blanket air
Nor bare enough
To comfort the bluff
Of the under-cover lair

I lay in my darkness

Save for a cozy cell phone screen light
And I toss alone in a double soft bed
And await for your call through slugging night

And I’m suffocated by these blankets
And eventually said air
Although my window faces the north,
The east draws my stare

I ask myself what this is
And my thoughts evade escaping
And in a moment
It’s
Simply
The
Notion
Of…

Waiting

ii
Thinking, ..
On the blankets
On the mattress
On the floor
On the ground
And the sound
Through the crust
And the core

And the dawn outside
To the sun
Gave birth
And it burst,

oh it burst

Onto a landscape of cold
And the shining white luminance
Neglects to slip its hold

Bustle hustle below
On the birdseed barring snow
And you, moving in that light
Unto that my sun bestows
And you bring the wind
To a hurricane
That which moves the life
And always in afternoon
My star’s blanket’s light
My thinking is of but slight

iii
Comfort…
In a dream
I can think of you
With my roots in your earth
With my air in your atmosphere
And my drops in your surf

And I can lay with you
As if the sun wouldn’t rise
And stay in the warm bath
Of the cocoa in your eyes

And in my arms is soft
Like watching the constellations start
And all the comfort in your voice
Is the comfort in my heart
