The Fire In Our Hearts
Fireflies
Fill the void
Crackling
Burning
Twisting
Turning
Licks of Golden Locks
Fill my vision
As she dances
Amongst a starry night
She asks me;
"How can you love me,
Knowing I am so beautiful,
Yet destroy so much? "
And as I look
To the sky
Reply,
"There is great beauty
In you,
But also
Great Power.
You shine
Brighter
Than any star."
She grabs my hand,
Pulling me
Into the circle
Of light
And love
We dance
And in the end,
There is nothing left
But ashes
And the smell
Of scorched wood
I run my fingers
Through her hair
One last time
As she fades
The wind howls
Like a hurt beast
As I kneel before
The remains
Of my love
Shivering from
The lack of warmth
Gone
The fireflies
Are no longer bright
But black
And crisp
As they fall
To the ground
Coating
In a black snow
Oh woe is me
As I lie in the cold
Knowing, yearning
For nothing more
Than to feel
Her warmth
One
Last
Time
