Goodbye

Goodbye my almost lover
for we would have been great, greater than most have seen
a beauty beyond years, a relationship to last
we would have traveled far beyond the sky, reaching the highest palins
captivated by what was always there, never seen by the naked eye
goodbye my almost lover
for I have lost you, in mind body and spirit,
a love that will never be
a tempted bethrothed to the unknown
I long for your happiness with me
but you drift further away, fading into blackness, not enough to grab
not enough to wish, I sit and wait for an absolute that will never come
my heart crushes for I know you've found another
no need to name her, she is the source of my anger
she is there when you cry and sees your every joy and sorrow
while I sit in the shadows
maybe someday in the distant future, you'll look at me with eyes that shine through me and I'll be your long lost lover.
