False Reflections

I look in the mirror, but it's not me I see
This girl, though, she's an imposter of me
Her eyes are full of sorrow
All red and all puffed up
Her wrists and arms and legs are bare
But a covering of scars still linger
Out of her mouth comes words of hate
I wonder just what made her this way.

Was it the lies and the rumors
Or the reality she faced
Was it the heartbreaks she'd been through
Or the tears that rawed her face?

Looking closer in the mirror, I gasp
This girl, she's no imposter of me
My eyes now show my sorrow
All red and all puffed up
My wrists and arms and legs are bare
But a covering of scars still linger
Out of this mouth came words of hate
But still I must wonder
What made me this way.

It was the lies and the rumors
And the reality I faced
It was the heartbreaks I've been through
And the tears that rawed my face.
