The Beach
I gaze up at the stars
They fade away as the Sun hauls its brill'nt orange
over the inky blue swathes of the night
I awe at distant swishes of golden red
cracking the inky blue canvas
stretching above the rippling golden sea
Sun appears, not a ball of fire, not a fiery jewel,
but an oblong violent streak
like an arrow in fire launched
Half-mind lost to this celestial jig
Half-mind to ponder why I wandered the beach
alone
at the break of a lonely Sunday morning
I traced along the shore of zealous waves
in a trance of utter bewilderment
at how little I know myself
and how little I can do to help it..
