Becca Swindell Poems

As the days and the nights blended together,
I feared in my heart that would be here forever.
I went to the places I could escape to,
and in solitude and lonesomeness I would cry.

2.

My fist closed tight around the glass,
My 1st, my 4th, my 8th, my last.
I stumble and fall,
I just tried to reach the wall...
...

Before my eyes I see it fall,
I cry as I wonder how I lost it all.
The memories of my life stab me like a knife.
They gave me no warning as i stand here in mourning.
...

Dreams of death come waltzing past,
Shadows of memories that she though would last,
Music keeps playing in her head,
Tempting her to join the dance of the dead.

My Story

As the days and the nights blended together,
I feared in my heart that would be here forever.
I went to the places I could escape to,
and in solitude and lonesomeness I would cry.
His eyes would haunt me wherever I looked,
His voice would ring in my ears,
His laughter would dance in my head like a song,
And I could remember the tears.

The days would move on, some fast some slow,
And I would sit here, Grasping my knees, feeling all alone.

I remember the day I had first met him,
My heart had beat so fast.
But inside my heart would cry,
For I knew that this could never last.

The stories they tell of true love were fake,
No love at first sight for me.

So that's why I sat there all alone,
Hoping to one day find he.

But now my story is complete,
And my heart beats to a different drumbeat.
Because now hes here, and my story is done,
And I hope that you too some day find the one.
