The Portrait of Life
- Benjamin Raj
Childhood that resembles the sprouts of greenery, As dew-drops on a wintry morning,
Laid across fields to spread the ‘ Welcome ‘ silvery carpet!
With the setting- in of the Spring of youth;
Blossoming, blooming boarding are the half-hidden,
Half-shy buds of innocence that cling to the stem for dear life
Like an eaglet to its mother!
Those tender wings now ready, steady and strong for summer,
Reaching and spreading to full might,
Packed to the brim with life, love and liveliness,
Adorned like a princess on her wedding day or
Armored like a prince in battle!
With many a replica left behind,
As a commander of a large army,
Giving charge to the ‘camp' to steer and follow
Bidding farewell to work ‘Well Done'! Comes winter to ‘call it a day',
Leaving behind footprints in the sands of time!
Abandoning the ‘ field of life'!
The tide of time and the ‘Reversing Age, '
Competing to get the better stake to stage!
Culminating in the inevitable Last Page,
To return to the oblivion!
