I Was Sitting On Your Shoulder

I was sitting on your shoulder
When it turned into a flower
And I fell.

Reminded me of the time
I laid under the cloud
That dropped red and you drowned.

I’m not asking but telling
And you don’t have to stick around
For this story.

But I’ll lie if our veins
Will stop to rest
And tell the sir he’s gone missing.

All the green’s turned to grey
And the yellow
Is all that much brighter.

Perhaps if your hip will touch mine
I won’t have to leave
For the hour

But it’s dropped into pieces
And suddenly
Yours for the taking.

So I’ll walk down the road
And hope I was wrong
All the same.
