The north wall of our building
Never gets sun.
So it grew moss instead.

Brahmaputra wakes up slow,
Misty hills in softest glow,
Umananda floats alone,
Crowned in green, a quiet throne.

The river does not hurry to the sea,
It knows the sea will wait.
It bends around the stubborn rock,
It learns, but does not hate.

Bidyarnab Das Biography

I am a 15-year-old student currently studying in Guwahati, Assam. I started writing poetry to capture the world I see every day — the monsoon over the Brahmaputra, the crowded lanes of Fancy Bazaar, the quiet moments after the school bell rings, and the lessons I learn both inside and outside the classroom. I write in simple English about themes that matter to teenagers: nature, school life, family, and the environment. Like poets I admire, I believe poetry should speak clearly and make people think. My poems often use contrast and repetition to highlight how we see the world differently as students. Growing up in Assam gives me endless stories — from the islands of Umananda to the rain that decides our holidays. I'm inspired by Assamese poets like Nilmani Phookan and Hiren Bhattacharyya, and by contemporary poets who write about everyday life. My dream is to become one of the best poets of my generation. I want my words to make people pause, feel, and maybe even save a tree or call their mother. Right now, I'm building my collection one poem at a time. I share my work with teachers, friends, and online readers to improve with every draft. 'Poetry is not about being the best in the room. It's about being the most honest.')

The Page Before I Rip It

This page almost died.
Crossed out lines like scars.
Three false starts that went nowhere.
One angry scribble that tore the paper.

I was going to rip it.
Ball it up. Make it disappear.
Like it never tried to be a poem.
Like I never tried to be a poet.

But then I saw line four.
Just four words, half-erased:
'I'm still writing this.'

So I kept it.
Not because it's good.
Because it's honest.

Some poems are trophies.
This one's a survivor.
And so am I.
