Beaver O beaver
Why the deceiver?
When I look into your eyes
I can see what you are saying is just lies
I have tried to make you good
But I see you turn away and shun me, as you would

Not many people know your story
Or your former glory
But I do
And for no longer it will be confined to me and you

A long time ago
About 30 years or so
Your life were just fine
And so was mine
In fact life was great
And there was nothing to hate

I saw you go for a walk up the stream
When you saw something in the distance gleam
It was a dam, a wonderful one
With a polished roof the shined in the sun

I saw the look on your face
It was jealousy, I say with distaste
I must do better I saw you mutter
As I ate my toast with butter

Then the race began
Of who could have the best dam
Better and better the dams became
You should now hang all of your heads in shame

You cut down more and more trees
You brought them down to their knees
Trees were going down fast
The council could not let this last
They didn't know who was cutting them down
So they blamed some of the most respected members of the town

So when you and your pals go to the trees and hack
Who gets the blame, us the lumberjacks
We knew we couldn't blame it on you
So we took the blame, even though we knew

I am now an outcast
My time has past
I have no case
As you compete in your never ending race

So now as I watch from my window
I'm happy that our story will be one that everyone will know
And as I sit in my rocking chair and tilt
I can see your heart is ridden with guilt
