Born in Haileybury in August of 1953, Temiskaming has been home and comfort all of my 56 years. From early childhood I have been captivated and soothed by the beauty of this region. Fishing and hunting as a youngster progressed to photography and nature studies in my adult years. In my writings I hope to raise awareness of the beauty we take for granted and the possibility of its loss if we are not deliberate in its management. Take a walk through my poetry with me and feel the power and solace Nature gifts those who tour its realm with an open heart and mind.)
Nodin
I am Nodin
Ojibway for “Wind”
I am gentle yet
possess great power
Feel my touch as I
softly caress your cheek
The breeze speaks of me
The wind sings my name
The gale boasts my passion
Watch the flower’s petals
tremble as I tickle them
See the intermittent ripples
on a mirrored pond,
witness of my presence
on even the calmest day
I move the clouds
to blanket the moon
then whisper them away
to unveil its beauty
Feel my presence
Rejoice in who I am
and what I represent
I am Nodin
I am “Wind”
