A Silent Scream

Alone
Inside my prison all dark and cold
unable to spark a light within,
Not silent as I struggle to escape the screams of hidden nightmares long forgotten
The agony and relentless scars reopening with every echo of my past,
I drown in fears and the uncertainly of whether I can survive my own prison I've made,
Then there when Hope is fading and Faith seems like a distant memory,
When all warmth from my soul has all but faded a light is seen,
A touch is shared and an emotion I've long thought had forsaken me awakens
It roars with power and electricity silencing the screams and warming my prison.
I gasp in relief for I am able to take a breath with no pain.
The walls I've built with tears and heartache now crumble at my feet,
Afraid to move...to lose this newfound light, I shake with anxiety.
Yet there that touch tugs once again and I take my first step into the unknown,
The place that was my mind, my nightmare and my prison.
Feeling strength now flowing through my veins I open my eyes at my savior.
Eyes of warmth and undying Love now stare at me,
I know this man before mine eyes is the light I thought I'd never see,
No walls to run back behind, no screams of fears nor painful darkness to drown in,
He holds my broken heart and heals its wounds from years of pain.
This light, this warmth and this man is the Love I thought I'd lost but has found me.
Has saved me.
