Snow

There was solemnity in snow,
although it –
in sunlight glowed.
Who coveted the cold –
the thing that God, to us,
has doled?

Snow did not dance,
neither whisked from us –
our souls nor substance.
However,
physicality was not the solution,
but somehow I could see –
despite the glare of the sea –
the absolution in me.

When I was young,
I glanced at the sky –
and He was there,
fallen from the wrungs
of power and grace.
Like the fat of the bear,
being hunted for face.

And I said to Him –
fly, Bear, like a bird
And he said to me –
Only those who help themselves,
receive help from Me.
