Life

Life,
scientists study it.
Try to figure out what it means,
why we’re here.
They use big words to describe life,
long lectures on possible reasons why we’re here.
But this is what I say.

We’re here to have fun, love, and grow.
To feel the first raindropp of the spring,
to hold your newborn baby sibling.
To watch the clouds come and go,
to see the first winter snow.
To taste grandma’s chocolate chip cookies,
to lick a lollipop until it’s gone.
To hear the chatter of the birds,
to hear the wind blow the wind chime.
To smell fresh apple pie,
to smell the fresh-cut grass.
To walk down an old dirt road,
to run on the hot summer sand.
To smile when you’ve done something right,
to frown when you’ve made a mistake.
To watch your life go by,
to watch your children grow.
To follow your dream,
and find out where it takes you.

That is life.
Scientists may say life is atoms and molecules,
but I disagree.
Life is whatever you make it.
