Small Fish

I am the small fish
I see the silver bait flash
lost in desire
lost by desire
The fisherman holds me in his hot hand
I know I am lost, lost forever
his drunken voice sounds 'too small'
I am flying, a wiggling shining arc
But I am now no longer the
shining arc slithering through the
water after minnows
I am the sulking fugitive
forever I remember the silver bait fish
The fisherman would have been more
kind to behead me!
I am the silver bait I flash
as I scurry
I am the bait fish.
betrayed by my own desire.
lost in desire, lost by desire.
