Cecilia MacAleer Poems

A stocking
A stiletto,
A fancy gown.
A safety pin,
...

My mother before me was one of them;
The new-age-self-inflicted-matchstick-girls
A dragon with French cigarette smoke
Protruding from her nostrils.

Cecilia MacAleer Biography

19 year old student. Have lived all over North America and Europe. New to the writing thing; really want to know your opinions on my poetry. All advice you could give would be fantastic, good and bad criticism. Especially bad as that's the only way we improve and better ourselves. Favourite poets: Sylvia Plath, Ted Hughes, Maya Angelou, Shakespeare, Wilfred Owen, Rosetti, Dante. I saw a man pursuing the horizon; Round and round they sped. I was disturbed at this; I accosted the man. 'It is futile, ' I said, 'You can never - ' 'You lie, ' he cried, And ran on. Stephen Crane)

Stage Fright

A stocking
A stiletto,
A fancy gown.
A safety pin,
A read through
A worry,
A flash of thought,
A memory loss,
A fragment,
A quick regain.

A pitter, patter upon the heart,
A sliver of ice caressing the spine,
A cage of stomach butterflies,
A ball of heat within the groin.

A shake,
A shudder,
A careful smile.
A shiver,
A step,
A walk of confidence.

A turn,
A book,
A look,
A blink,
A think,
A surge,
A purge,
And finally gushes forth the cathartic, creative craft of dreams.
