Trying To Forget Us

I murdered my feelings
And put my dreams to sleep
My lips are colorless
And my heart is scarred
Sandy beaches are without footprints
And our Friendship is sinking
My desires are dormant
And wishes are seldom
There is a cloud of futility
And happiness is fading
An attitude of indifference
Surrounds my circumference
I lost touch with the woman in me
Trying to forget the man in you
Memories cast a shadow
As I take a step for tomorrow.
