Beautiful

What are we all trying to hide,
Flaws that are everywhere to find?
Flaws that set us apart;
Flaws we fear so much to accept;
What are we all trying to hide?

Beauty lurks around, pokes gently
Beauty is slammed and ignored
Its very essence pommeled and knead
Into a grotesque stele
A pedestal we'd kill to touch

Still beauty begs on mangled knees
Praying for the tiniest redemption
The slightest ray of salvation
From a world wrung completely of gratitude for true clarity

I toss now all my insecurities
And don my flaws like a king's robe
They must have been bestowed me
For a reason I intend to live up to.
