If both we should gaze upon the sky

Thoughts From Distance

If both we should gaze upon the sky
And see the sky clear with white moonshine,
Perhaps a thought may in us aroused
Of one distanced, but gazing up tonight;

And the moon will spell sorrows, or regrets,
Or dim memories, cheers long muffled;
That in her salient orbs and silent sea,
She'll see us both, up gazing at her sight;

And may the years as they roll,
Bring fond memories as often as recurs,
Whenever we should gaze upon the sky
And feel the moon white shine of hers.
