My Fire
I walked down the street just as calmly as the breeze,
Couldn’t wait to get to my destination,
Hair pulled with corn rolls to the back almost ready to fight
Mind focused on what I need to no going off track
My sack on my back with my future at stake
Been doing this mission for over sixteen years
But at age eighteen I know one day it will bring my mother to tears.
Persistent, determined, ambitious, and prepared
No one in this world can make me scared.
Surrounded by over 400 competitors
But no one will sound the triumph of my defeat
No I will be the last one to make a beat and go to sleep.
Creation runs through my fingers,
Wisdom was passed down by blood,
Personality was one of my own given from God.
Now I’ve made it to my mark never alone
Because from day one my courage was shown.
I put on my robe pushed my hat to the side
As I walked across the stage my family resides in me.
Then finally the words that I’ve been waiting to hear
“Congratulations the class of 06’ is here.”
