Drought

Through the communal lands
We walked door to door

Emptyness invaded graneries
Hunger alienated stomachs

Dryness colonised rivers
While thin cows grazed dry grass

Goats with jutting tounges
Only awaiting a painful death

We asked villagers about the disaster
They said ''ancestors had turned their backs on them''

Others sarcastically said ''witches had caused the spell''
While many lamented ''its the will of the lord''

Some had no explanation
But only hoped for the next season
