My Cold Hard Shell

A cold hard shell surrounds my heart
I weep in fear when we’re apart
You’ve touched my life so strong and sweet
Every dawn with you I will greet
Upon your features I would gaze
Until it leaves me in a haze
Your eyes so deep the ocean’s blue
Before you came, I’d make do
Breach my shell your gentle love has
That I might soar as no one has
Your voice so soft so kind and clear
With every word you calm my fear
My heart you hold so tenderly
Force me to view me differently
You melt the ice around my soul
Because you see me as a whole
Ignore my faults and bless my mind
As though you are for me designed
Your laugh the joy that fills a room
And always now am I your Groom
Our lives entwined for ever more
Our binding love never a chore
My shell is broken from your love
And I smile my gentlest dove
Joy has found me in this life
As cosy thoughts of my Wife
Fill my veins and warm my heart
I’m waiting for our life to start
So this leaves me but to say
I’m ever grateful for that day
That you stumbled upon my soul
Strong this love beyond control
Born that day so pure and true
It is so clear, I love you.
