The stars in the night sky
They refuse to shine as bright they would do on any evening
the air blows east, and midnight drizzle echoes in the dark
hounds seem too weary to howl
...

Let's dance to this song
Just this once, we lose all bonds
Our bodies, cascading
We make the world our dance floor
...

Let's mourn for every fallen angel
Pick up each dismal, insignificant feather we see lying on the stained ground
Pray we don't suffer the same fate
As we work our way to that silver peak up there
...

As you feign
I will not relent
And even as you hold me in this sweet lie
I will smile, in this entrapment of bitter bliss
