Dana Richardson Poems

I'm sitting,
I tap my pencil,
shake my legs,
bite my nails,
...

Only those that know me, know my feelings and thoughts,
but no one in my life understands my daily dealings and droughts.
Every day is a different battle, and sometimes I just don't win.
Every day is a different fight and my scars and bruises prove my struggles and aggression.
...

The world is full of beautiful adventures,
those who seek the adventure,
sees the beauty in the world.
There will always be obstacles in the world,
...

The memories,
they help me on my long odyssey.
I remember them as altruistic,
and robust.
...

Snap back to reality.
And oops, there goes gravity,
your lost but you don't know it.
Your knees are weak, and your arms are heavy.

Nervous

I'm sitting,
I tap my pencil,
shake my legs,
bite my nails,
and suck my thumb.
Can't look you in your eyes,
my words come fast,
my breath comes slow,
My heartbeat speeds.
Looking around,
I break into a sweat,
lookin for the door,
grinding my teeth.
And I know you know,
I'm shiftin in my chair.
The room increasingly warming,
hands cold and clamy.
Pulling my hair,
laughing nervously.
You're in your zone,
I'm far outta bounds.
I'm on turf,
its your advantage.
Looking for my pace,
I'm too nervous,
too anxious,
I get up and walk away.
Feeling dumb, anxiety killed me.
