Daniel G Allen Poems

Walking down the Street of Shattered Glass
Recognizing each shard as I dare to pass.
Never recall breaking so many hearts
Running away as we draw apart.
...

In the sea of friends I'm all alone,
Staring at the night, at the unknown,
Hoping that the sun will shine again one day,
And once again I'll find my way.
...

Memories burning like fires in the cold,
Flaring up pictures that shatter the soul.
While the heat of the embers soothes broken hearts
Smoke floods our eyes and tears us apart.

The Street Of Shattered Glass

Walking down the Street of Shattered Glass
Recognizing each shard as I dare to pass.
Never recall breaking so many hearts
Running away as we draw apart.

This Memory Lane is so well worn
A narrow corridor, path lit with scorn.
Still as I walk, I smile clear,
Seeing all the people I held dear.

Friends and lovers side by side,
line this Boulevard where I still reside.
Beside me runs the Stream of Tears,
Its bands filled with dreams and fears.

And accross it, menacingly glowing,
Are all the Burning Bridges, flames forever growing.
Down and to the left, is the Garden Green,
Where friendships are planted, its growth to be seen.

Along it runs this Discovery Arcade,
To instantly find what was lost in a decade.
Yet still the world turns, and much to our surprise,
Brings a new beginning for every end;
- for every dusk a sunrise.
