On The Dirt Where Jesus Walked

Christmas ‘13'

I woke up this morning turned on the daily news
There was bloodshed on the ground
Where walked the king of Jews
And as I focused on it, I saw the deserts bloom
And tanks were rolling over the poppy fields of gloom

Christmas is upon us and still the killing stars
On HD screens around us, TV raises the bar
As we sit in our front rooms and all sing Silent Night
The sons of Eve and Abraham still prolong the fight

Would Jesus be sickened to see the carnage slow-mo run?
Celluloid and in pictures, in the land of the blazing sun,
Where the dust bowls are a blowing
Through the eye sights of the gun
Mapping out the oil fields with constant war ground marked
On the dirt where Jesus walked

His sole would be worn out and his clothing spat with blood
Just like two thousand years ago in the on the hill top in the mud
Cavalry over Calvary, uniforms still the same
Breastplates altered from breastplates showing medals in our name
Where the devil he still stalks, over the holy lands
On the dirt where Jesus walked

As I switch the channels
The sons of Abraham are encased in their tombs

And flying back to Lynham to be paraded in flowered rooms
Now I ain't much religious, but death seems a heavy price
While the daughters of Eve in Africa struggle on a bowls of rice

Enjoy your Christmas cheer
As you're safe within your home
But remember there's always constant blood shed
Where on the hills where Jesus roamed
