Leaves are falling, falling from my heart.
Falling like the fading memories of days now past.
When you were here my heart was in bloom.

Where are the foot steps, I have left in the sand?
Have the waves of each day washed them away?
Replaced with clean sand, past mistakes cleaned away.

How many people have I met? So many have past my way.
Yet so lonely, on this path I made. My spirit drifts.
It will not stay. I long for home. I lost the way.
My path seems endless, no place to stay.

My captain I am tired, so weary in my soul.
My captain I am sorry. My fighting is done.
My friends are all gone. I am the only one.
I lay down my rifle. This day I am done.

Falling Leaves

Leaves are falling, falling from my heart.
Falling like the fading memories of days now past.
When you were here my heart was in bloom.
The tree of love was green, my heart was serine.
The leaves gave my heart shade.
They made me peaceful and calm.
Now the tree is bare, the leaves of love are gone.
It was I, that made this day.
I would not give my love away.
A simple word I would not speak.
It was all that was needed to keep the tree of love green.
Oh where has my love gone?
No shade do I feel.
Oh how I wish I had said I love you.
So simple a word to say.
So easy to feed a growing tree.
Now the leaves are falling, falling from my heart.
The tree of love is bare, as bare as my heart.
