Departed Soldier

Walk outside
Into the night
Your doing all this
Because it just feels right
You feel the cold
As it hits your skin
And zip your zipper up to your chin
You look up
Out into the sky
You see the stars
And begin to cry
You start reaching out
And don't know why
The feeling is striking
Your senses are spiking

She can feel I'm near
Calm overtakes her fear
She says my name
And says she's to blame
She drops her arms
She's's falling apart
And this whole time
Its breaking my heart
I can see her pain
And memories that pass through her brain
It's shutting her down
So she stands up
And begins to walk away
I wish I had a voice
To ask her to stay
Or even to tell her
That I am ok
But now it's over
Its my time to make way
For I made a choice
To leave this damn place
It wasn't forced
I picked this path
I'm on my own
And not feeling bad

Now she walks in
Goes straight to her bed
Takes a moment
So she can clear her head
And now every Friday
She wears red
Thinking of a man
Whom now is dead
She deals with this
All night and day
Searches for words to say
Which just seem
to slip away
Leaving her feelings
Shaded in Gray
She looks up
And prays to her god
Please don't leave him
Alone in the fog
To take his hand
As she once did
And to bring him
Where sky's are bright
Where all is fine
Where all is right

But watch him closely
And hold him dear
Tell him it's ok
Cause soon I'll be there
Don't let him leave
Keep him in place
Cause when I die
I want to see his face
