Hello Michael

It was a warm and sticky summer morning.
I woke up to the ring of my cell phone.
When I saw who was calling, I answered eagerly.
My mother had the most incredible news.
As of that day I had a new brother.
Born just three pounds eight ounces; a scrawny child.
I later went to meet him.
He was as red as a stop sign and fragile as glass.
He was lying in his incubator, fighting for his life.
I was suddenly overwhelmed with seeing my premature brother.
I could see his vital signs.
I could his milk flowing in his nose.
I slowly reached for his hand and clutched it softly.
I looked down and said “Hello Michael”.
