Grandma Wished Upon A Star

I wished upon a star tonight, my wishes all for you
Then I prayed that every one, would one day all come true
The star was shining brightly in the darkness of the night
I sat and thought of you, and wished with all my might

I wished you only happiness, good health and good will
To always think of others, how your words may make them feel
May you always be the leader, because just anyone can follow
Respect yourself and others, so you never become shallow

I wished you a loving heart, a strong mind with many dreams
And that you chase those dreams, no matter how hard it seems
Go out into the world, go confidently with arms unfurled
To welcome all there is for you, in your new and wonderful world

I wished you understanding of challenges that come your way
And always knowing that tomorrow will be a better day
May you never get discouraged, and think to run away
Stand strong against the enemy, as it may change from day to day

I wished you all the knowledge to be right in all you do
As anything is possible when it comes to being you
If ever feeling unsure, not knowing what to do
Don’t look down but up, as God will guide you through
