I have only written one poem though I have to acknowledge that I believe it was actually inspired. I used to live by some woods and I would actually sit outside on the porch to smoke. (Ugh, I know) I noticed that when I'd flick the lighter without actually lighting it, the fireflies in the woods would respond by flashing back. The Fire In The Wood

At night I sit on my back porch
and gaze into the wood,
hoping soon that I will see
what others dream they could.

I flick my light not once but twice
for doing this I know
that soon my eyes, to my delight,
will see that dark wood glow.

First one small flash, then two and three,
and then there's four and more!
The flames begin to dance and play
like faeries dance in lore.

And as I sit and watch this spectacle,
I am amazed!
The wood that was so dark before
appears to be ablaze!

The fireflies glow, putting on their show...
