A thousand ponds, bridges, and trees identical.
The baroque fractals of emerald hue;
wandering gnomes that stare with eyes of death

I bring along a token, a piece of you
to carry through my day.
Cutting off my hand for you,
to tarry on your way.

Sitting down, face to face
there is no bandaid, there is no brace.
I am 1,800 miles from home, staring at you through a screen.
Missing you with an aching pain.

trees
and fractals
life sucks

A box lies here
six sides folded inward
weak blankets of dead trees line my insides
to be used and discarded, built

Death. Extinction. Genocide.
Sacrifice. Expiation. Servitude.

A student renders thoughts as words
to represent his fractured paradigm
and struggles to fit all the data
into his massive memory.

We gravitate, and culminate.
We wrap around.
Breathe in!
We hide our fears

a crestfallen swan passes,
the forest curtain, lovely drawn.
like me, but
perhaps just my reflection

I remember boiling summers playing in the cricks and creeks,
when boats upstream and down
stampeded.
where none could penetrate the reeds and brambles of my hidden inlet
