Dre' Porcher Poems

The theme of this poem is the all too familiar problem that many poets, writers, journalists, etc. have experienced at some point in the literary careers. Writer's Block. This poem was titled as such due to the irony of the poem itself. My girlfriend (at the time) wanted me to write a poem while I was going through writer's block and I ended up forcing this out of me. By the time I reached the end, I impressed myself with what I had written and thus felt it was the result of 'unleashing' the writing that was blocked. Each line is fairly short because it was all I could force out at a time. It took about two or more hours to write.

I can see it
In my mind
...

This poem could be
The greatest thing you've ever heard
Like a verbal bird
Free to fly around the confines of your mind

Writing Unleashed

The theme of this poem is the all too familiar problem that many poets, writers, journalists, etc. have experienced at some point in the literary careers. Writer's Block. This poem was titled as such due to the irony of the poem itself. My girlfriend (at the time) wanted me to write a poem while I was going through writer's block and I ended up forcing this out of me. I can see it
In my mind
What I want to say
To convey what's in my head
In a different way
I want it out and about
No longer just and idea
It's my words, not my power
That the people should fear

I want it new
I want it often
Off the top of my head
I want it fast
I want it neat
Just my style instead
It's in my head
I know it's there
But it won't come out
It's like it's hiding
Gotta find it
Gotta figure it out

I gotta change it
Rearrange it
Transform it to me
I want to make it nice and pretty
For the people to see
I've got a brain
And it works, man
This is my art
But to do what I do
I've gotta take it apart
This stuff is work
Never easy
End result to see
It takes me hours
Just to get it
To what I want it to be
So when you read this
Don't just see it
As mere words on a screen
This is more than just expression
It's an extended dream!

Spirit onto Paper
Soul into Words
Energy given Focus
Concentration Undisturbed
Expression into Form
Rhythm into Lines
Time into Product
Effort Maximized
Thinking something new
Playing every card
Writing isn't easy
Poetry is hard...
