A Soldier Of Winter
Decisions made, fate sealed,
alone I lay in this frozen field.
Lips turn blue,
heart beats few,
my time on earth is about due.
Life flashes before eyes,
my certain end has come as a surprise,
surrounded by death and decay I lie.
Although alone, I lay with brothers,
bound by blood and guts,
spewing through gaping cuts,
we leave behind lovers and mothers.
Final thought towards those who will grieve,
air expelled from lungs, I cease to breath.
Bullet pierced chest,
life gives out, time to rest,
RIP a soldiers crest.
