Summer - A Longing
As I wait for you
the darkness of short nights
stretch into infinity.
But I know you will not come.
Neither can I.
And I have no idea where you are.
Day lights blind me.
With sweaty afternoons,
creepy nights
and tiring mornings,
I have given up
searchingfor you.
Dogs that used to bark
all night are silent.
Maybe, too tired
to sniff out the seeds of green
that rest deep inside
the womb of the earth.
Over your absence
even the air is angry.
My parching throat fumbles for words.
Only the van with inmates
knows no thirst, heat, or dust,
as it meanders along
to bury all that it passes
with heaps and heaps of dust
lying idle for eons.
