If there's a God why do people fight
And robbers steal things in the night
And babies die before they're born
as other from there mother's wombs are torn
...
If There Is A God (A Little Boys View)
If there's a God why do people fight
And robbers steal things in the night
And babies die before they're born
as other from there mother's wombs are torn
And African babies die in slums
despite the efforts of their teenage mums
And children suffer disease and pain
while wars cover our world with a blood red stain
And those wars are fought for no reason at all
for religious sects or a holy wall
And black babies die from sickle cell disease
Does a caring God lay colour boundaries
And many people die from hunger and cold
because they're guilty of the crime of growing old
And the rich and famous live a life of ease
Whilst the sick and hungry die like fleas
And our world is ruined by industrial might
As our planet is pillaged with no respite
But all of this suffering could come to an end
If there's a merciful god with the will to mend
this world of pain and disease and death
He could do it with one puff of his holy breath
Religious sects don't matter, just do it for all
Follow the example of your disciples Paul
and Jesus and Muhammad and Martin Luther King
and Ghandi and the Buddhists who never hurt a thing
If there is a God, if you really exist
Please read the words I've written to get the gist
of my prayers and pleas and hopes and dreams
To end this world of suffering and children's screams
For food good health and peaceful rest
If you exist Dear God please do your best
