First Dates.

Each moment of our dates brought us delight
Of seeing for real the Holy Light,
Alone on earth.You were so daring,
Impetious like a bird's swift wing,
Like virtigo you ran downstairs to show the pass
Through humid lilac lane
On other side of smooth plate glass
And led to your domain.

When dark of night had come, mercy was given
Upon me, for the altar gates
Were open wide, and there was gleaming
Of slowly leaning nakedness.
Awake, 'Be blessed your soul, 'I said,
I knew my blessing was impertinent,
And you were still asleep.
The lilac stretched from table to bed
To touch your eyelids with the deep
Blue of the universe, serene
Your bluish eyelids were, warm was your hand.

The crystal hazed like mountain,
It pulsed like river's line
And dawned like sea.On palm you kept
The crystal sphere, on the throne you slept-
Oh, God! -and you were mine.
Prosaic language of mankind
Was changed by your awakening,
New sounds ripened under rind
Of throat, they nourished in my mind
The sense of 'you'-it meant 'the king'.

Everything seemed to alter,
Even such simple things as wash basing and jar,
When sratified and solid water
Held us apart by its dividing bar.

And we were led to the unknown far
Off lands.The cities, built by wonder,
For us had left their gates ajar.
Corn mint lay under our feet.
With us its route directed birds' fleet.
Fish its way up the river waters made.
The sky unfolded in the eyes...
While fate was after us to victimize,
Like a madman with a razor blade.
