Eli McCallister Poems

A little girl swept up by death in October's hefty wind.
Curled up to keep the warmth of her dead mother's love
awaiting to join her in a place so bright.
But at least tonight she has her little toy bear.
...

The one that said I love you
the one that kissed your neck
the one who's heartbeat you heard each night
the one you went to when you hurt
...

little star up yonder.
i reach out to protect you and bring thee to me.
but i realize you are too far away.
i do not need to protect you from being lonely
...

Fall from the sky and hit the ground.
Trace the bodies of the dead, like they're
stick figures morphed to the streets.
Deformed people pooled with blood,
...

a little girl at sidewalks end, waits alone for her dear old friend.
she waits by herself with just a teddy bear to hold.
as i walk closer my blood turns cold.
i have to tell her what I've been told.

A Little Girl

A little girl swept up by death in October's hefty wind.
Curled up to keep the warmth of her dead mother's love
awaiting to join her in a place so bright.
But at least tonight she has her little toy bear.

Her dad left in a rush to kill her mother
for protecting her daughter from the hatred of abuse.

How come it did not work?

How come she wanted to die so young?

How come in one day she will go from curling up by
a dumpster to flying above the clouds in her mother's loving arms?

She does not want to die yet, too young,
but she wants to end it all now
The pain, the horror, the screaming in the middle of the night,
memories of being locked in the attic......

...One week later the cops will find her warm but not alive, Why?
Her mother protected her not just from abuse, but... but
she couldn't protect her from DEATH.!
