Mystic Journey

It was in spark of intellect we met.
When first I sought to know the way of truth
And tread the path of wisdom
It spurred me to ever seek
New definitions for old realities.
Insight and imagination wed
Resulting in the birth of wonder,
At peaceful twilights, and storms which silence break,
His reflection in stormy sea and quiet lake.
And I wondered -
Faced with eternal, yet unanswered questions
Seeking to touch Perfection

A gentle stirring in the will did start
To tap the precious fires of the heart
Seeking the light beyond the painful fog,
Mute at the thought of the inexpressible.
I pressed against His torn and tortured flesh
To know the sacred joy of His carress.
Pain lingers, but gone was dread.
I tasted the hint of sweetest nectar
In all the tears I shed.
And I trembled -
Love spurring me to fierce determination
A weary lover, seeking consummation.

Then came the new and difficult beginning.
Reason and will in mute submission bowed
At their sorry and helpless state.
Our faculties are naught - His grace alone
Is ladder to a Paradise unknown.
Where one may quest, in trust and faith unfeigned,
For One in Whom is perfect love contained.

And willingly I struggle.
That, in losing all I otherwise would be,
I may become completely free.
